If tourists take a taxi from Bãi Cháy to Hòn Gai or return, the taxi will take them to the ferry, where another taxi from the same company will take them to their destination.

Taxi motorbike

Taxi motorbikes are available almost everywhere in the city. The average price is VND1,000/km. If travellers want to cross the estuary, they should stop at the ferry and pay the driver, take the ferry to the other side and hail another taxi-motorbike.
Taxi-motorbikes in Ha Long are quite good. Rivalry for passengers and causing annoyance is rare. Taxi-motorcyclists can also be a good source of information about hotels or restaurants and can be helpful when you want to find a difficult address

Night market and fair market

Bãi Cháy Night Market
Open from 18h to 23h daily at the Bathing Area of the Thanh Niên Tourist Company. Here, souvenirs of all kinds produced in Quang Ninh Province and other localities are available for sale.

Fair Market
It takes place on Tuesday weekly, from 6 am to 2 pm at the area near Ha Long Hotel, mainly serving customers from ships.

Fish markets in Ha Long

It is an interesting experience to visit a fish market, especially for women. In Ha Long, there are fish markets in such areas as Km 2, 3, and 5, Cao Xanh, Loong Toòng. The largest is located inside the Ha Long Market.
The quantity of live fish and the price depends on the season, the tide and weather. Tourists can buy live seafood here and have them cooked by the chefs at restaurants or the hotel where they are staying.
On days when the weather changes, or rainy days, fish is scarce. On busy days, the price may be higher. Below are the prices of some seafood for reference:
Crab with large roe: numerous from May to October. Price varies from VND120,000 to VND180,000/kg.
Prawn:  plentiful from June to December, VND 120,000 - 200,000/kg.
Squid: plentiful from October to April of the next year, VND50,000 - 70,000/kg.
Oyster: plentiful from August to October, VND20,000 - 35,000/kg.
Snail: plentiful from May to October, VND30,000 - 50,000/kg.
Hairy oyster: plentiful in June, July, August, VND15,000 - 20,000/kg.
Dried seafood products, such as dried squid, mackerel, are available at Ha Long and Cao Xanh markets.
