Ba
Chẽ is a mountainous and remote district in northern Quảng
Ninh, 65 km from Ha Long City. To the north, it borders the Đ́nh
Lập District of Lạng Sơn Province; to the south,
the Hoành Bồ District and Cẩm Phả Town; to the
east, the Tiên Yên District; and to the west, the Sơn Động
District of Bắc Giang Province.
Inhabitants
are concentrated in town area. The communities are made up of the
Dao, Việt, Tày, Sán D́u, Hoa and Nùng ethnic groups.
Chúc
Waterfall, 6 km from the town, is a natural wonder of sculpture.
Forestry and agriculture are main contributors to the district’s
economy.
The
forest area of the Ba Chẽ District is the largest in the
province. The largest income from the district originates from
this forest, especially for plants with medicinal value.
Agriculture only occupies a small rate, as rice productivity is
not even enough to meet the demands of the district.
